Azure Weekly

Issue #17 - 21st March 2015

Yet another action-packed week in the world of Azure!

On Monday, the developers of London were treated to a visit by Scott Guthrie, who gave an impressive end-to-end tour of the Azure Platform covering all the major features & services in 3 hours. The event was arranged by the UK Azure User Group.

This week also saw the SQLBits conference in London, which contained a number of Azure related sessions, mainly focusing on Power BI.

endjin were at both events - distributing fliers about the free Azure Technology Guidance posters we released last week.

The big Azure announcements of the week were the release of new A10 & A11 VMs, which offer the raw compute power of the A8 & A9 VMs, but does not include the Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) technology for maximum efficiency of parallel MPI applications, thus enabling the bigger VMs to be available at a lower price.

DocumentDB & Azure Search have  moved to general availability.

Finally a special thanks to Scott Guthrie - who tweeted about the Azure Weekly Newsletter and increased the number of our subscribers by 30%!
