The countdown is on for this year's Build conference, which runs from April 29 – May 1 in San Francisco. For those unable to make it to San Francisco, there are 'Build Tour' events in other locations across the world during May.

There was a preview of a Build announcement on the Azure blog, where Mark Russinovich introduced the Azure Service Fabric, the technology which underpins Azure's core infrastructure and services like Skype for Business and Azure SQL Database. A developer preview is being made available at Build.

This weekend saw 183 community events taking place for the Global Azure bootcamp. As part of the event, a distributed compute lab was used to run mass spectrometry analysis tools for breast cancer research.
