Microsoft's enterprise-focused event Ignite took place this week. Sessions ranged across the full set of Microsoft enterprise products and services, with an emphasis on SaaS applications such as office 365, compute, networking, hybrid and security.
The press release for the event highlights the announcement of Microsoft Azure Stack, Microsoft's next generation hybrid cloud offering, and the Microsoft Operations Management Suite for managing hybrid cloud. Several announcements regarding Azure's networking and hybrid services are summarised on the Azure blog, on the Azure blog, including an ExpressRoute premium add-on to provide global connectivity, ExpressRoute for Office 365 and Skype for Business Enterprise Voice, a new VPN Gateway for site-to-site VPN and ExpressRoute co-existence, user-defined routes, IP address enhancements, new network virtual applicance partners, Azure DNS and networking support for Azure Resource Manager.

⚖️ Management and Governance
On the Azure blog, Chris Sanders announces new graphical and textual authoring features for Azure Automation. The graphical authoring area is visually similar to the Azure Machine Learning workspace, with a list of available components and a canvas. For those who prefer textual editing, the editing pane has been made more user friendly
On Channel 9, there are Ignite sessions on Containers in Windows, Azure and beyond with Taylor Brown and David Tesar, and Microsoft's new Windows Server Containers with Taylor Brown, Arno Mihm and Nick Stinemates
Something that's caught our attention this week - the Semantic Logging repository on GitHub, from the Microsoft Patterns & Practices Team, contains PowerShell scripts to setup Elastic Search, LogStash and Kibana (ELK) on Azure. Also included are LogStash plugins to pull in Microsoft Azure Diagnostics data into Elastic Search.
On the Docker site, John Willis (@botchagalupe) continues his series on Docker with troubleshooting with sysdig, Diogo Mónica writes about Docker security and best practices, and Mario Ponticello highlights two new images that were made available in April - Drupal and Rakudo Star
On a Docker theme, on Channel 9, there's a Docker overview for .NET developers with Dan Fernandez, Dmitry Lyalin and Lan Kaim
Robert Smit explains how to Manage Azure VMs with System Center 2012 R2 Virtual Machine Manager and writes about Microsoft Operations Management Suite
