Azure Weekly

Issue #344 - 10th October 2021

Let's start off with a few interesting data & analytics articles: Data Wrangling at Scale with ADF's Power Query Activity, now Generally Available, I enjoyed this post about Building Scalable Lakehouse Solutions using Azure Synapse Analytics. And James Serra has a good write up about the recently GA Azure Purview.

There are two new courses featured this week: a new data science curriculum on GitHub was just released with 20 free lessons, and also new Microsoft Learn courses for Azure Migrate App Containerization.

In the serverless / API / Web Apps arena, Azure Functions Python 3.9 support is now generally available, and an architectural guide for accepting only traffic from a specified service in front of backend services.

Finally there's an interesting article on Zero Trust, highlighting that the White House signed an executive order calling for improvement to the nation's cybersecurity in "Integration guidance helps partners deliver Zero Trust solutions", and for those who have been supporting remote workers with Azure Virtual Desktop, Windows 11 is now generally available. I've been using Windows 11 all week and it's been an overwhelmingly postive experience.
