Azure Weekly

Issue #41 - 29th August 2015

This week has seen the roll out of Site Recovery to a number of additional US regions, a streamlined portal experience for building Mobile Apps and adding mobile capabilities to Web Apps, a JavaScript language integrated query API for DocumentDB, and the general availability of Row-Level Security (RLS) for SQL Azure.

Following on from the announcement of Azure Active Directory support for Windows 10, the Azure team announced another Azure/ Windows 10 love in - Azure Backup can be used to back up Windows 10 client machines.

The Azure team also announced AzureCon, a new virtual event for the Azure community which takes place on September 29th.

Stepping back a little from this week's announcements, if you're looking for a concise guide to recent changes to Azure Storage, we suggest this useful blog by Gaurav Mantri.

At endjin HQ this week, we're preparing for two new starters in September; we decided to reduce the number of custom credentials we have to create when onboarding a new employee, by using our Office 365 / Azure AD to SSO enable our WordPress based blog with this handy plugin by Philippe Signoret (@psignoret) and our TeamCity environment with this plugin by Evgeniy Koshkin.

As a sidenote, this is the first week we've used Azure Data Factory to produce the Azure Weekly newsletter following the demise of Yahoo Pipes - a blog post on our implementation will follow.
