Azure Weekly

Issue #477 - 28th July 2024

Meta's next generation model, open source Llama 3.1 405B was released this week and is now available on Azure AI. The "open source" bit is exciting. There's a good explainer about Why and How to Ground a Large Language Models using your Data RAG too.

As we near the end of the month, there's another massive Microsoft Fabric July 2024 Update, and Initial tests of GitHub support for Microsoft Fabric Git integration. There's also an interesting post about Container Patching with Azure DevOps, Trivy and Copacetic.

SQLBits 2024 sessions are now being published on YouTube, including one of our talks: How To Actually Make Decisions When Architecting a Data Platform. We're very passionate about accessibility, and you may remember content we published last year about Accessible Data Storytelling with Power BI: Design Concepts and Accessible Colours, it was great to see a case study about the wonderful company Signly who provide Sign Language as a Service for websites, all based on Azure. I know the team, as the company is based in my home town, and I've helped them in the past. Maybe your org's website could benefit from Signly for your deaf customer base? See the case study: Signly made banking easier for deaf customers.
