This week saw the Microsoft Ignite 2024 conference take place in Chicago. There were a vast number of announcements, and as ever, the best way to digest them is the Microsoft Ignite 2024 Book of News.

My highlights from the announcements are: The next wave of Azure innovation: Azure AI Foundry, intelligent data, and more (which is more of a grouping and rebranding of existing products and services), the big announcement from the Fabric team: SQL database in Microsoft Fabric Public Preview, I'm very excited by the details in this post, which indicates that "Legion" is more like the AWS Lambda Firecracker based architecture: Azure Functions Flex Consumption GA - an engineering view, there are also lots of great new features in ACA (my favourite Azure Service): What's new in Azure Container Apps at Ignite24. In Hybrid another big announcement / rebrand: Introducing Azure Local: cloud infrastructure for distributed locations enabled by Azure Arc, and a round up of Azure Integration Services Unveils New Features at Microsoft Ignite 2024.
